2009 Meineke Car Care Bowl Champions

  • In a tough game against one of the top defensive teams in the nation we came out victorious. This 10th win is significant for our program in so far as the last time PITT accomplished a 10 win season was in 1981 with Dan Marino at quarterback.

Next DVD

  • It looks like I will not meet my goal of completing the slides by the 21st. I have been working very hard this week on finalizing the editing process of Dr. Yuri and Dr. Natalia Verkhoshansky's upcoming coaching manual. As of today, I believe the editing is complete. If anything, only minor adjustments need be made. I must once again reiterate that this text is incredibly comprehensive with respect to special strength training, the Block Training and Conjugate Sequence Systems, Programming, Adaptation, and the list goes on.
Upcoming Manuals
  • Earlier this year I proposed a project to one of my top interns/pupils, Frank Rizzo, who has an extensive understanding of my work, my objectives, and sport training in general. The project consists of assembling a small number of manuals based upon specially selected, organized, and categorized work of mine that both Frank and I consider to be consistent with my most current thinking. Frank informed me today that he should complete the work within the next couple of weeks. I'll update more as the work nears completion.

Articles and Documents Update

  • New articles have been added to the science section pertaining to adaptation

Update

  • The last three weeks have been psychologically challenging as a result of our losses to West Virginia and Cincinnati.
  • While we are now focused on facing North Carolina in the Meineke Car Care Bowl, being focused on the upcoming opponent does not mask the fact that losing is unacceptable.
  • I appreciate the continued support regarding the steady sales of my lecture DVDs
  • I am close to completing the slides for my next DVD. Once the slides are complete, the recording/production process will be very quick. My objective is to complete the slides before we head to North Carolina on Dec 21

To My International Readers

  • As my proficiency increases, with respect to understanding my website statistics, I am observing that many viewers are seeking out my site through overseas search engines. While I suspect this has been happening steadily over the years, I have only just recently been reviewing the website statistics at a certain regularity.
  • I am grateful to have your attention as the bulk of what you'll find here on my site is reflective of my constant research of sport training information published from beyond the geographical borders of my country and its continent.
  • Ironically, what many of you will find here are products of my understanding of sport training discoveries that originated much geographically closer to your countries than my own.

My Next Lecture DVD

  • Work is underway on my next lecture DVD. The subject matter focuses on the taxonomy of the physical preparation training for my skill players at PITT during spring ball, training camp, and the game season. I have selected to produce the video via a format that I believe to be unique amidst the field of sport training DVDs.
PITT Football
  • As a team we are currently 9-1 with two games remaining in the regular season. West Virginia is our next opponent and we will face them on their field in Morgantown West Virginia next Friday.
  • As a team, our state of sport form has underwent a relative gradual upsurge over this last half of the season. This is, of course, the objective for any team. Our physical readiness and health are, with very few exceptions, exactly where we, as a physical preparation staff, expect it to be.
Dr. Verkhoshansky's Upcoming Release
  • I near the completion day regarding my editing work for Dr. Yuri and Natalia Verkhoshansky with respect to their latest coaching manual. It is by far the most comprehensive text to date authored by Dr. Verkhoshansky specifically in regards to his texts that have been translated in the English language.

November 14, 2009- Iron Radio Interview

November 10, 2009- Q&A Cancellation

  • The amount of questions submitted over the last 5 days does not pass a return on investment assessment on my behalf. The amount of site traffic that PowerDevelopmentInc receives would indicate that there are more than enough page views to support a Q&A. Perhaps my presence on the Q&A at EliteFTS detracts from interest in reviewing a Q&A here.

November 05, 2009- Media/Video Page

  • I will be replacing the "Narrative" page with a page dedicated to Media/Video
  • Once it is set up I will transfer all video links from this page to that one in order that this page may be used solely for announcements
November 05, 2009- Training Video

November 05, 2009- Victory Belt Book

  • I am moving forward with the owner of Victory Belt regarding the completion of my book. The book will be published in my name. In the end, I am sure that this is the most favorable scenario. The release day will be pushed back as a certain amount of photos, and other work, that was done with Randy will now have to be redone.

October 24, 2009

  • The manner in which the WVU program and fans honored UCONN today, regarding the remembrance of Jasper Howard, is one of the classiest events I've witnessed in college sports.

October 20, 2009

  • Thought is currently being directed towards implementing either a text or video feature on a regular basis in order to increase site traffic.
  • Due to my responsibilities as a coach and consultant I must ensure that my efforts are concentrated here on the site in order to gain the attention of as many viewers as possible while not diverting my own attention away from my primary responsibilities.

October 14, 2009

  • Randy Couture Book Update
    • After over 1.5 years of writing and editing the text I was told today that the deal is off.
    • I was offered a book deal of my own through the publishing house (www.victorybelt.com)
    • I will take the next week or so to decide on my course of action as the manuscript is essentially complete; though requires final editing.

October 12, 2009

  • Notice to customers, today (12 October) is a national holiday in the US and the mail service is not operating. We will resume sending out orders tomorrow (13 October)
October 12, 2009
  • Thanks again to those of you have supported my work via your purchase of my most recent lecture DVD during these first few days of my on-line store becoming operational.
  • To those of you who are internet-business minded- I welcome any ideas you may have in regards to the marketing of my work to a broader audience. Perhaps dissimilar to other on-line training resources it is not my objective to dilute, by even the smallest fraction, my tactical coaching and programming training abilities via diverting my attention to furthering my business sense. I realize the irony in this statement, considering the fact that I have products for sale; however, I am unwilling to change my course.
  • Please submit any ideas to athleteconsulting@gmail.com and title your email 'business insight'
October, 8, 2009
  • Today has been a tremendous first day for the on-line store. I'd like to thank all of you who are supporting my work. I've nearly sold out of my initial stock of my new DVD in a single day. My wife Amber handles all things logistical related to the business and I assure you that she will provide a level of customer service that is competitive with the best of the best.
  • My continued work to grow my on-line store will remain focused on putting out only what I believe to be the best of my work. For this reason, I will likely discontinue the High/Low and Speed Training for Non-Track Athletes manuals, in the near future, in favor of more modernized work either in the form of revisions or brand new material.
  • I very much enjoy presenting/lecturing and capturing this work on DVD. Based upon this first day of business it appears as if DVDs are also popular amongst readers. As a result, I may look into putting together a series of self-shot lectures similar to what Charlie Francis has done with some of his more recent work. If I opt to go this route, the DVDs would consist of me alone presenting to the camera making use of only a dry erase board or perhaps a power point presentation.
  • Make no mistake, however, I am a first and foremost a coach; so please keep this in mind as you review my site and my products.

October 8, 2009

  • The on-line store went up today and the orders for the Bioenergetic Sequencing DVD are coming in at a high rate. Thank you for all of your support.

October 6, 2009

  • Work is currently underway to create a storefront here on the site which will render all of my literature products and DVDs available for purchase via PayPal
  • In addition, a new manual is being constructed covering the topic of youth training. The manual is being formatted as a question and answer. Those readers already familiar with Charlie Francis' Forum Review products will find this format to be the same. The estimated time of completion for the youth training manual is slated for sometime within the next 6 to 8 weeks.

August 20, 2009

  • Work has recently begun in an effort to set up a storefront page for my manuals and DVDs. Should the efforts prove to be a success a link to the storefront will be created on the Sources page

April 1, 2009

  • New links to articles authored by Zaitchouk and Verkhoshansky have been added to the Articles and Documents page

March 9, 2009

  • To those who frequent the site, I will be updating it on a far more frequent basis. My coaching duties, and otherwise, have created a situation in which I have neglected my work here.
  • For those interested, I am nearing the end of my work on a book for UFC Champion Randy Couture and my next scheduled speaking engagement is at Bergen Catholic High School in New Jersey on May 16 along side my superior at PITT Buddy Morris, New York Giants Head S&C Coach Jerry Palmieri, Jeff Mangold former Head S&C coach of the NY Yankees, Reg Grant Head S&C coach for the New York Rangers, and Lon Record Head S&C Coach Villanova Basketball.

 February 6, 2008

  • The 'strength and conditioning' coach as a title and corresponding line of work, as it has existed in the United States in the popular sense, must be replaced with a title and curriculum of study and practice that far eclipses the capabilities of the status quo.
  • I suggest a title and subsequent qualification standard that allows the coach to instruct the athlete psychologically, technically, and physically for their sporting requirement that, in conjunction with the collaboration of the sport coach whose expertise is also rooted in technical and psychological as well as tactical preparation, will render the athlete operating at the highest possible state of preparation and readiness.

December 27, 2007

  • The western sport training process is largely void of a mindfulness of physiology. Until this situation is resolved we will continue to observe the most successful of sport programs continue to attain results that, while they exist in a state of excellence in relative terms, are well beneath what is truly attainable. Meanwhile, uniformed program administrators and media are none the wiser.
  • The solution to this problem lies in rectifying the misdirected lessons that are taught in academia to those individuals who aspire to work, at any conceivable capacity, in the industry of sport.

 November 8, 2007

  • Articles and Documents page as well as Sources page continue to be updated. Please check back frequently to review new additions.

 October 30, 2007

  • Informative interview with Victor Shenkin, published in 1989, added to Articles and Documents

 September 7, 2007

  • The effort to individualize the training of the athltetes participating in team sports must be strengthened. Until the taxonomy of the coaching staff begins to approach the collective expertise that is derserved it is the athletes themselves who must be encouraged to assume greater accountability of their training.

September 6, 2007

  • Excellent article by Dan Pfaff has been linked to Articles and Documents section

September 3, 2007

  • Additional links have been added to the Sources page.

August 22, 2007

  • The strength and conditioning coach must expand his/her responsibilities beyond the scope of what the title historically implies. The inspired trainer of athletes must ensure that the directed/general specific aspect of the training accomplishes the transmutation of non-specific developments (products of traditional training means) into the higher perfectioning of the sport form.

August 18, 2007

  • Through my continued study of the sport training process (STP) and its practical application, I have and continue to formulate conclusions and solutions to various training problems. One such conclusion is that the coach and athlete must scrutinize all aspects of the STP if they are to expect to attain high results.
  • I suspect that the limit one places on their scrutiny, vision, and imagination of the STP, and all of its complexity, is directly proportional to the degree to which their attainment of high results is retarded.

August 15, 2007

  • I have added many new links to the Sources page. I will continue to do so as I discover what I think are useful information resources

 August 8, 2007

  • Strength and Conditioning coaches are urged to question whether the means they have selected for the training program are congruent with the most important directive: the athletes' attainment of sport mastery
